WOLF Kids End of Year Family Camp-Out
In June, the WOLF Kids, mentors and families headed to Pachena Bay for their End of Year Camp-Out. It was such a gift that so many parents, caretakers and siblings were able to attend! We all had a nourishing, connective time - it truly felt like the "village" atmosphere so many of us crave for those 5 special days.
Some highlights include:
Epic sand sculpture building team work and creativity,
Community meals and stories around the fire at night,
Ocean dips and bodyboarding,
Completing a section of the West Coast Trail and dreaming into future adventures,
Parents vs kids Lama Spit (an epic game similar to dodgeball for those that haven't had the opportunity to embody an angry Lama yet...),
Drum-stalk along the beach,
Art/print experiments with ink in the forest.
It is so special to witness the community atmosphere that is created by the end of the year at our full-time programs. This trip felt like a such a beautiful culmination of the connections amongst kids as well as with the mentors and families created over the year together. Attending 4 days per week since September, with all sorts of community and family events in between (including pot-lucks, an ancestor feast, rites of competency ceremonies + more) creates many threads of connection and we are so happy that we got to celebrate together in this way.
Some of our WOLF Kids families have been with us for 5+ years now. Other kids have experienced profound transformations after just starting with us last September. Having the opportunity to hear reflections from parents about their child's journey and how valuable this program is for their family was very moving. We feel so grateful for our community of families!
