First Weekend @ Wild + Alive (2024/25)

Our first weekend of Wild + Alive was a glorious sunny weekend in September, where we met each other in new ways and shared time together around the fire. We were invited to try an assortment of nature connection mini taste testers of: knots for putting up tarps, chopping wood, trying out friction fire, embodiment of animal movement and meeting a tree blind folded.

We also shared a few simple ceremonies, where we crossed a threshold and spoke our intentions of why we committed to this 9 month series of monthly deep dives for adults into nature connection.

We of course played games, laughed, cried, listened deeply to each person share and we also expressed our grief in community. All the while, we learnt some foundations values and cultural attunement of where the teachings we will be experiencing come from and how they relate to cycles in nature. Just before leaning into this more logistical teaching moment, we made the most stunning “co created, improvised, beauty, art piece” with the 8 directions as the foundational map.

What a privilege to be able to come together in this playful, nourishing and connective way as adults.

I truly am grateful each time I am at these weekends as a mentor, not only for sharing and being in service, but for all I learn and experience from each person that I meet. It’s a beautiful way to meet yourself, others and the nature world.
