Diego (he/him) has great enthusiasm towards connecting with nature and facilitating that connection for others. He also has a remarkable passion for music and has a magical way of sharing it with others in fun and engaging ways.

Diego enrolled with Thriving Roots on 2019 and has successfully completed two years of the Tend the Fire Apprentiship. Most of his learning has been experiential with the support of mentors by his side. Being a participant of Wild & Alive adult program has also helped him understand deeper the 8 shields model and the culture repair work that they do. This work aligns greatly with his values. He is more than happy to be walking a path of Nature Connection that he can share with others.

His journey of becoming a Mentor of Nature Connection started two years ago by participating it the Art of Mentoring program on Salt Spring Island, hosted by Wisdom of the Earth School. This aligned with his path and wish to work with children in nature to bring them a greater sense of connection and belonging to the land. His experience was life changing. It opened his eyes to different ways of mentoring. It also showed him what a healthy culture that is connected to nature looks like.

Diego was originally born in Mexico and moved to Canada at the age of 11. He has Spanish and indigenous ancestry. Throughout the years, living in Montreal, Calgary and Victoria, he truly got to appreciate the value and beauty of cultural diversity. Diego is known for his big heart, thirst for adventure, and excitement for having fun and enjoying the little things in life.
